We use a variety of tests to diagnose and determine the extent of salivary gland tumors. Tests we use include:
- Physical exam: We’ll check your overall health and examine the inside of your mouth for any unusual signs, including lumps.
- Imaging: We can use imaging tests to get a better look at the inside of your body. Imaging we use includes magnetic resonance imaging (MR), CT scans and PET scans.
- Biopsy: We may remove a small amount of tissue so our specialized head and neck cancer pathologists can look at it under a microscope. We can perform a biopsy using a thin needle, a small incision or surgery.
