Support Groups

For cancer patients and their families, often the greatest comfort comes from connecting with others who have walked in their shoes, who have faced the same challenges and who can truly relate to the cancer experience.

At the UK Markey Cancer Center, our team of oncology social workers leads a variety of support groups that allow those affected by cancer to come together to share their experiences, learn more about the disease and its treatment and support each other as they navigate the emotional and physical challenges of cancer.

Some of our current support groups are listed below. View our calendar of events for a complete schedule.

  • Myeloma Support Group

    • Second Tuesday of every month.
    • 6:30 - 8 p.m.
    • Centenary Methodist Church
    • 2800 Tates Creek Road, Lexington
    • Contact Mandy Hatfield at 859-218-3675 for details
  • Find a Support Group Near You

If you would like to join a support group but don't see one listed above for your cancer type, please reach out to our oncology social work team. They can help you find a support group in your area.

For more information, stop by the Support Services office on the third floor of the Combs Building during regular business hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. You can also reach our office by phone at 859-323-4632, or email at mccsocialworker@uky.edu.
