Four Minutes for Cancer Research

Want to develop your presentation skills and gain fame – and fortune – in just four minutes? Markey’s new 4 Minutes for Cancer Research competition is for you!

The MOMENTUM Program, in collaboration with Markey's Community Outreach and Engagement team, is excited to launch a new initiative: 4 Minutes for Cancer Research, a competition to promote trainee presentation and research communication skills.

The 4 Minutes for Cancer Research competition challenges graduate students and postdocs to present their research to a general audience, in four minutes, using only one slide while demonstrating its impact to Kentuckians. Patient Advocates (former Markey patients, family members, and caregivers) will serve as judges for the competition alongside Markey faculty members. Additionally, the Patient Advocates will serve as resources for participants in preparation for the competition, helping them make their research more understandable and relatable to the community.

The competition will consist of three pre-competition workshops, followed by a preliminary presentation round and a final round. Cash prizes will be awarded and the winner will present at Markey's Cancer Research Day on Tuesday, May 13, 2025.
