Botulinum Treatment

Founded in 1989, the UK Botulinum Toxin (Botox) Treatment Clinic is the state's oldest and largest botulinum treatment clinic. The UK neurologists at the clinic have extensive experience treating children and adults with botulinum toxin for a wide range of medical conditions.

The clinic often treats patients with spasmodic torticollis (cervical dystonia), a painful condition in which your neck muscles contract involuntarily, causing your head to twist or turn to one side. Botulinum toxin is also used to treat blepharospasm, spastic dysphonia, limb dystonias, writer's cramp, achalasia, and voice (in concert with ENT) and spastic disorders.

Doctors often use electromyography (EMG) guidance to find the muscle to treat. In 2010, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved the use of Botox in patients suffering from chronic disabling migraines. Research suggests that Botox may be useful in reducing the number of headaches these patients suffer from. After UK headache experts evaluate patients with complex and challenging headaches, they may decide to use Botox as part of a comprehensive treatment plan.
