Memory & Cognitive Disorders

If you suspect that you or someone you love is struggling with memory or cognitive disorders, your primary care provider can refer you to the UK HealthCare Memory Disorders Clinic. The UK HealthCare Memory Disorders Clinic is a multidisciplinary clinic that offers diagnostic evaluations for adults with memory or cognitive disorders.

Our providers will perform a series of in-depth, comprehensive tests to determine the presence and severity of the memory or cognitive disorder or cognitive decline. Every effort is made to schedule all of these diagnostic procedures on the same day to make the experience more convenient for our patients. While the process can be extensive, it allows staff at the medical center to collaborate with your primary care provider to ensure you receive an accurate diagnosis and leading, effective care.

During your first visit, our memory disorder doctors will discuss your risk factors and perform three types of testing:

  • A brain imaging study, where our providers will take a detailed picture of your brain. If you have received an MRI or CT within the past two years, let our providers know so they can obtain the images. They will compare your previous scans with the scan that they take.
  • Laboratory blood work
  • Memory testing, which measures your ability to think clearly and pay attention as well as your ability to recall information
