Kentucky Neuroscience Institute Awards and Accreditations

The Kentucky Neuroscience Institute is recognized among the nation’s  'High Performing' hospitals in Neurology & Neurosurgery by U.S. News & World Report. They are also rated “High Performing” in the following procedures and conditions related to Neurology & Neurosurgery: Back Surgery (Spinal Fusion) and Stroke. Hospitals rated as “high performing” are among the top 10% of hospitals nationwide for those procedures.

The Stroke Center at KNI was the first in the region to be designated as a Comprehensive Stroke Center, the highest rating obtainable by The Joint Commission. We first received accreditation in 2014 and were recertified in 2018.

KNI has received the Get with the Guidelines – Stroke Gold-Plus Quality Achievement Award from the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association for maintaining nationally recognized standards for the treatment of stroke patients.

KNI is accredited by the NAEC as a Level 4 epilepsy center. Level 4 epilepsy centers have the professional expertise and facilities to provide the highest level medical and surgical evaluation and treatment for patients with complex epilepsy.

KNI is accredited by the ALS Association as a Certified Treatment Center of Excellence, the ALSA’s highest honor. We first obtained certification in 2005 and have maintained certification each year since then. To be certified as a center of excellence, each ALS clinic must meet The ALS Association’s clinical care and treatment standards, participate in ALS-related research and successfully complete a comprehensive site review.
