Peripheral Artery/Vascular Disease

Follow-up care

If you have been diagnosed with PAD or PVD, checking in with your doctor regularly is an important part of staying healthy. Ask your doctor how often you should make appointments, and be sure to get all recommended vaccines, including the annual flu vaccine. In addition, contact your doctor right away if any symptoms get worse.

Taking good care of your feet is also important, as foot problems are common for people with PAD/PVD. Check your feet daily for sores and contact your doctor right away if you notice anything concerning. In addition, be sure to always wear socks and comfortable shoes. Never go barefoot, as doing so can increase your chances for infection.
