Cardioversion can be used as an emergency treatment for supraventricular tachycardia. A healthcare provider places paddles or patches on your chest. An electric current flows through the paddles or patches, which shocks your heart back into a normal rhythm.
If you need emergency care, call 911 right away. If you have any of the following symptoms, seek immediate care:
- You feel dizzy or lightheaded.
- You have fainted or feel as if you might faint.
- You experience shortness of breath.
