Project ADAM

Project ADAM (Automated Defibrillators in Adam’s Memory) is a not-for-profit program that helps schools and communities be prepared for a sudden cardiac arrest (SCA). This program is part of Kentucky Children’s Hospital.

A UK HealthCare team leads on-site education and training to ensure your school has a response plan in place for a cardiac emergency.

Becoming a Heart Safe School

Your institution can become a “Heart Safe School” through Project ADAM. Achieving this designation means your school has taken all necessary steps to safeguard the health of students, including:

  • Ensuring automated external defibrillators (AEDs) are available, accessible and clearly marked
  • Creating a written response plan to follow during a cardiac emergency
  • Identifying and training your staff in the use of CPR and AEDs during cardiac emergencies
  • Conducting emergency response practice drills
