Antimicrobial Stewardship Team

Preserve antibiotics. Prevent resistance. Protect lives.

Antimicrobial Stewardship Center of Excellence badgeThe UK HealthCare Antimicrobial Stewardship Program works to improve the use of antimicrobials such as antibiotics for better clinical outcomes and to decrease the occurrence of antimicrobial resistance.

The program consists of a multidisciplinary team of providers who support the safe and appropriate use of antibiotics, as well as a core team of four infectious-diseases physicians and four infectious-diseases pharmacists.

The team works to achieve its goals in several ways, including:

  • Establishing antimicrobial stewardship as a UK HealthCare enterprise priority.
  • Analyzing and reporting meaningful data.
  • Empowering patients and healthcare providers through education.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary groups to identify, develop, and implement stewardship initiatives.
  • Performing scholarly activities and disseminating results.
  • Serving as a resource for the surrounding community.
