Measles vaccine available at the UK Pharmacist Care Clinic
Measles has been confirmed in Lexington — it’s not too late to protect yourself and your children. Measles is one of the most contagious viruses, but it is also highly preventable with vaccination. Without protection, measles can lead to serious complications, including pneumonia, brain swelling and death. The MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) vaccine is safe, effective and available at the UK Pharmacist Care Clinic.
Who can get the MMR vaccine?
- Children: The CDC recommends two doses — the first at 12–15 months and the second at 4–6 years.
- Children and teens who missed a dose should get caught up as soon as possible.
- Adults: Anyone without evidence of immunity should receive one dose.
The UK Pharmacist Care Clinic is located at 245 Fountain Court, Room 220, off Man O’War near Richmond Road. All minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Standard flu shots are available for anyone age 5 and older at all UK Retail Pharmacy locations. Those who are pregnant should consult their OB/GYN before getting vaccinated. The high-dose shot is approved for anyone age 65 and older.

UK Retail Pharmacies again chosen best in Lexington
UK Retail Pharmacies were recently chosen Lexington’s best pharmacies in the Herald-Leader’s Best of Lexington contest for the second year in a row. Earlier this year, the pharmacies took top honors in the Smiley Pete Best of Lex contest, also for the second time.
Each award showcases the service and commitment to health that UK Retail Pharmacies provide.
“We are truly humbled to be recognized once again as the best pharmacies in Lexington,” said Dan Grantz, PharmD, senior director of Retail & Community Pharmacy Services. “Receiving this honor for the second consecutive year is a testament to the dedication of our pharmacy team and the trust placed in us by the Lexington community. We remain committed to delivering exceptional care and service, and we are deeply grateful for the continued support of our patients and neighbors.”
Community votes determine the winners of both the Lexington Herald-Leader’s Best of Lexington and Smiley Pete’s Best of Lex awards, recognizing businesses that go above and beyond in serving their customers.
