UK Retail Pharmacies hours for Memorial Day

In observance of Memorial Day, hours at some UK Retail Pharmacy locations will change on Monday, May 25.

As always, Chandler Retail Pharmacy will remain open for the holiday. This location, on the first floor of Chandler Pavilion A behind the gift shop, is open 24 hours a day every day and NEVER CLOSES. Staff at any of our locations can access all prescriptions in the UK Retail Pharmacy system.

UK Good Samaritan Retail Pharmacy, located just off the main entrance of UK Good Samaritan Hospital, Fountain Court Retail Pharmacy, located at 245 Fountain Court, off Man O’War near Richmond Road, and Turfland Clinic Retail Pharmacy, located at 2195 Harrodsburg Road, will each be open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on May 25.  

Kentucky Clinic Pharmacy, Bluegrass Clinic Pharmacy and The Apothecary in UK Gatton Student Center will be closed May 25.

UK Pharmacist Care Clinic, UK Specialty Pharmacy & Infusion Services and the UK DME Store will also be closed for the holiday.

Summer hours at The Apothecary begin May 18

Starting Monday, May 18, hours at The Apothecary will change for the summer. The UK Retail Pharmacy will be open Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The Apothecary, a full-service UK Retail Pharmacy location, is on the first floor of the UK Gatton Student Center across from the Cats’ Den. Like all UK Retail Pharmacies, The Apothecary offers the lowest prescription prices in Lexington, as well as vaccinations, over-the-counter medications and free mail delivery for most prescriptions. The pharmacy is open to everyone and accepts most insurance plans.

The Apothecary’s campus prescription delivery service will remain available throughout the summer. This service provides UK students and campus employees a convenient way to have their medications delivered right to their residence hall or office, at no extra charge. Most medications are eligible for the service. Those who are interested in campus delivery can enroll online to get started.

The Apothecary will return to regular hours Monday, Aug. 17.

UK Retail Pharmacies offering 90-day prescription fills for summer

Heading away from campus for the summer but still need your medications? UK Retail Pharmacies makes it easy by offering 90-day prescription fills.

When requesting a refill, just ask for a 90-day supply – it's that easy. Most insurance plans cover 90-day fills for non-specialty drugs. (If you're not sure your insurance plan allows for 90-day fills, just ask at the pharmacy.)

Still prefer to get your medications monthly? Free mail delivery is available for most prescriptions in Kentucky.

UK Retail Pharmacies have seven locations on and off campus. On campus, the Apothecary is conveniently located on the first floor of the Gatton Student Center across from the Cats' Den, and Kentucky Clinic Retail Pharmacy is located just inside the main entrance of the Kentucky Clinic building.

Beginning May 18, the Apothecary will shift to summer hours, open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday–Friday.

Three‑peat: UK Retail Pharmacies again named Best of Lex

UK Retail Pharmacies are celebrating another major honor after being named Lexington’s Best Pharmacies in Smiley Pete’s Best of Lex awards. This is the fifth community‑voted win for the pharmacies in just three years.

 “We’re honored to be recognized once again by the Lexington community,” said Dan Grantz, PharmD, senior director of Retail & Community Pharmacy Services. “This award reflects the patient‑centered care and dependable service our team works hard to deliver every day, and we’re grateful to our community for supporting us year after year.”

This latest win marks the third consecutive Best of Lex honor for UK Retail Pharmacies, alongside two Lexington Herald‑Leader Best of Lexington awards. The Best of Lex awards are presented by Smiley Pete Publications, the local publisher behind the Chevy Chaser and Southsider magazines.

Community votes determine the winners of both Smiley Pete’s Best of Lex and the Lexington Herald‑Leader’s Best of Lexington awards, recognizing businesses that go above and beyond in serving their customers.

Additional locations include the June Buchanan Clinic Retail Pharmacy in Hindman and the North Fork Valley Clinic Retail Pharmacy in Hazard, plus a Richmond location opening later this year. Standard flu shots are available for anyone age 5 and older at all UK Retail Pharmacy locations. Those who are pregnant should consult their OB/GYN before getting vaccinated. The high-dose shot is approved for anyone age 65 and older.

The UK Pharmacist Care Clinic, located at 245 Fountain Court, off Man O’War near Richmond Road, offers vaccines for patients 6 months and older. All minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at all UK Retail Pharmacy locations.

In addition to flu protection, COVID vaccines are currently available to patients 65 and older, or those under 65 with one or more high risk comorbid conditions. Patients outside these groups will need a valid prescription from a provider. Ask your pharmacist about receiving both vaccines during the same visit. UK HealthCare employees are welcome to receive their required flu shot at any UK Retail Pharmacy location. No additional reporting is needed, and badge buddies are available.

Scheduling an appointment

Appointments for vaccinations can be scheduled at a UK Retail Pharmacy, even without a MyChart account.

Scan the QR code at right or schedule an appointment online. Choose the Pharmacy button, then select “Vaccine” and select the vaccines you would like administered. Then choose a time and location that works for you.
