At Golisano Children’s at UK, we treat a wide range of common and complex liver diseases in pediatric patients up to 17 years old; older patients can then transition to our adult specialists at UK HealthCare.

Testing options
The physician will review records, test results, clinical assessments, and reports from caregivers to create a patient and family-centered treatment plan.
Every child deserves a precise diagnosis. We use blood tests, advanced genetic testing, and other diagnostic procedures to deliver this to each patient.
We use various non-invasive techniques to assess your child’s liver.
One of these methods is FibroScan – an ultrasound-based imaging device that used to look for liver scarring.
We also use magnetic resonance elastography (MRE) to measure liver stiffness that may be caused by fibrosis.
Both tests are simple and painless.
Treating liver conditions
Our experts in pediatric liver care will work together to create a treatment plan that’s right for your child.
Treatment often includes medication and/or surgery. Our liver physicians work with other subspecialists to create the best individualized care plan based on your child's needs, specific liver condition, and severity. In certain rare cases, an evaluation for liver transplant may be recommended.
Referring a patient
If you are referring a patient for care, please submit an ambulatory referral for pediatric gastroenterology in EpicCare Link and select hepatology as the indication.
