Birthing Center Renovations

Golisano Children's at UK is transforming our Birthing Center to better serve growing families in our region. This renovation will create a modern, family-centered space. The design will provide the highest level of comfort, safety and care for moms, babies and support partners.

As part of this renovation, the Mother-Baby Unit will relocate to the 9th floor of Pavilion A at UK Albert B. Chandler Hospital, creating a dedicated space designed to support postpartum recovery and early bonding for families welcoming a new baby.

When complete, the updated Birthing Center will feature:

  • Expanded private birthing suites
  • Enhanced recovery rooms
  • Upgraded technology to support both routine and high-risk births

Construction will occur in phases to ensure we can continue providing safe, high-quality care during the renovation.

Arriving for Labor & Delivery

Patients and families arriving on or after May 26, 2026, for Obstetrics ED, Labor & Delivery, or 3 Neo should:

  • Enter through the 1st floor lobby of UK Golisano Children’s Hospital. Please note: these areas cannot be accessed from the ground floor.
  • Follow posted signage in the Children’s Hospital lobby to access the temporary elevators located near the NICU lobby, which will provide access to the 3rd floor.

Our care teams will guide families through each step of the process and signage will be in place to help patients and visitors navigate.
