If you need to see a specialist, referral is simple and seamless because we are part of the UK HealthCare system. As part of an academic health system, UK Morehead Women’s Healthcare hosts medical students through the UK College of Medicine Rural Physician Leadership Program, which is based in Morehead. Having doctors-in-training join our OB-GYNs as part of your team brings fresh perspectives to your care.
Our clinic has a strong relationship with UK St. Claire, which is where our OB-GYNs deliver babies and perform procedures. If you or your baby need high-level care, we can arrange a swift transfer to Kentucky Children’s Hospital, which is home to neonatology services and a 90-bed neonatal intensive care unit.
PATHways
UK Morehead Women’s Healthcare is one of several UK HealthCare clinics offering access to the Perinatal Assistance and Treatment Home (PATHways) program for women who are pregnant and have opioid use disorder. PATHways participants receive prenatal care and opioid maintenance therapy at one location. Services also include group therapy with a peer support specialist and certified addiction counselor.
Telemedicine appointments available
Our clinic offers telemedicine appointments for certain patients through UK TeleCare, including low-risk obstetric patients who don’t need a physical exam. If you have a high-risk pregnancy, our team may want to manage your care together with a UK HealthCare maternal-fetal medicine specialist. We schedule in-office telemedicine consultations with these specialists for our patients. During your appointment, a sonographer will perform an ultrasound, and you and a maternal-fetal medicine specialist will discuss the results via a video feed.
