National Diabetes Prevention Program

UK Barnstable Brown Diabetes Center is launching a virtual Diabetes Prevention Program. Participants will be able to attend weekly live sessions with trained lifestyle coaches from the comfort of home using the Zoom videoconferencing platform. Offered through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) helps prevent or delay the onset of Type 2 diabetes by helping patients learn how to make and maintain healthy lifestyle changes. Our lifestyle coaches help patients gain the skills to change their eating habits, lose weight and maintain a healthy level of physical activity. DPP is covered under UK Health plans and Medicare. If you have different insurance, contact your specific insurance plan to see if DPP is a covered benefit for you. To get started or to learn more, please contact the Barnstable Brown education center at 859-323-2232, Option 3, or fill out the Diabetes Prevention Program form to reserve space in the virtual meeting.

The National Diabetes Prevention Program is one of the many forms of diabetes education our diabetes care and education specialists provide. Offered through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, it helps prevent or delay the onset of Type 2 diabetes by helping patients learn how to make and maintain healthy lifestyle changes.
