National Diabetes Prevention Program
UK Barnstable Brown Diabetes Center is offering a virtual Diabetes Prevention Program. Participants can attend weekly live sessions with trained lifestyle coaches from the comfort of home using the Zoom videoconferencing platform. Offered through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) helps prevent or delay the onset of type 2 diabetes by helping participants learn how to make and maintain healthy lifestyle changes. Our lifestyle coaches help participants gain the skills to change their eating habits, lose weight and maintain a healthy level of physical activity. DPP is covered under UK Health plans and Medicare. If you have different insurance, contact your specific insurance plan to see if DPP is a covered benefit for you. To get started or to learn more, please contact the Barnstable Brown education center at 859-323-2232, Option 3, or fill out the Diabetes Prevention Program form.
Our next series begins on April 19, 2023. Take the first step toward a healthier lifestyle and join us Wednesdays from 4 to 5 p.m. on Zoom.

Helping patients gain self-management skills
The 12-month program, which is recognized by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, is offered at the UK Barnstable Brown Diabetes Center. Diabetes care and education specialists trained as lifestyle coaches teach small group classes, helping participants gain the skills to change their eating habits, lose weight and maintain a healthy level of physical activity. Our educators work closely with participants to help them overcome their unique obstacles and achieve their health and wellness goals.
