Type 1 diabetes treatment requires the hormone insulin, which can be injected by insulin pump, pen or vial and syringe, and in some cases can be inhaled.
In some cases of type 1 diabetes, primary care providers can use medication to help control hormones, blood pressure or cholesterol.
