My journey to serving women started when I was in high school. My best friend thought she might be pregnant and I wanted to help her. I knew if I checked out a book about pregnancy, the librarian would call my mother, so I found a book about a midwife and devoured it in a weekend. One of my teachers at Frontier Nursing University actually worked with the midwife the book was about!
The births of my four children has given me the personal experience to provide empathy and understanding - from high risk hospital birth and cesarean to home water birth. Fourteen years of being a nurse before becoming a midwife has given me a passion for teamwork and advocacy. I feel my role is to come along-side women in their experience and offer information and support to empower women for their own journey.
