Outside Food Delivery Guidelines

UK HealthCare has a responsibility to keep the people in our care safe. We ask that patients, visitors, and staff limit bringing outside food into our healthcare buildings. This is to prevent potential exposure to transmittable infectious diseases and materials. We encourage everyone to take advantage of the many food and dining options we provide.

Patients: Please ask your healthcare team if you have questions about the specific diet recommended for you before ordering outside food.

Food delivery guidelines

Meet delivery personnel outside. Patients, visitors, and staff should meet delivery personnel outside at the delivery parking location.

Provide correct information. Please provide a valid phone number and the correct address so that the delivery person can contact you upon arriving.

Delivery personnel cannot go past the lobby entrance. No outside food deliveries are allowed beyond the lobby entrance. Frontline staff such as registration staff and clerks cannot accept or deliver food. Designated shelving units are available for food delivery drop-offs for those not immediately able to pick up their order.

Important: Items left on the shelving unit are unattended. Unattended food items will be discarded throughout the day. The person placing the order is responsible for picking up their order and should understand the risks associated with unattended food.

Talk to your healthcare team before ordering food for patients. UK HealthCare ensures patients are provided healthy, balanced meals daily, as proper nutrition is an important part of treatment and recovery. Outside food should not be brought to a patient without the approval of their healthcare team.

If you have additional questions about food options or these food delivery guidelines, please reference policy #A11-155 or speak to the nearest information desk.
