Student Nurse Academic Practicum (SNAP)

Program overview
UK HealthCare invites nursing students who have completed their junior year in a BSN program or first year in an ADN program to participate in a hands-on clinical learning experience during our ten-week summer practicum, the UK SNAP program. Students will work alongside a registered nurse in a clinical setting at UK HealthCare.
Salary
The UK SNAP program is a paid program. There are no shift differentials for nights or weekends. UK SNAP participants will be required to work full-time hours (36 to 40 hours/week depending on unit staffing needs). Participants will be assigned shift rotations on days, evenings and/or nights with some weekends and holidays. Participants MUST agree to follow their nurse preceptor's schedule.
Uniforms
UK SNAP participants will wear royal blue scrubs that are neat and clean. Shoes must be leather. Participants will be responsible for purchasing scrubs and shoes.
Qualifications
To be eligible for the UK SNAP program, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Completion of the junior year in a BSN program or first year in an ADN program by summer 2025
- Completion of two semesters of clinical nursing experience (including peds/OB) prior to the start of the program
- A cumulative GPA of 2.75 (Preference may be given to students with a cumulative GPA exceeding 2.75.)
- Have an American Heart Association BLS
