About
Dr. Justin F. Fraser is the director of cerebrovascular surgery in the Department of Neurological Surgery at UK HealthCare, where he specializes in cerebrovascular, endovascular, skull base and endoscopic transsphenoidal surgery. He focuses on treating stroke, carotid stenosis, intracranial aneurysms, arteriovenous malformation, pituitary tumors and other skull base tumors. Fraser routinely performs acute stroke interventions and led UK in its certification as a Comprehensive Stroke Center.
Fraser graduated from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University. In his thesis, he discussed the American healthcare system and focused on the effect of managed care on the physician-patient relationship.
He earned his medical degree from the Weill Medical College of Cornell University, where he also completed his residency in neurological surgery and a fellowship in endovascular neurosurgery/interventional neuroradiology.
Fraser’s academic research focuses on the further advancement of neuroprotective therapies for acute ischemic stroke. He has been the principal investigator on several investigator-initiated clinical studies (e.g., SAVER-I, STABILISER), as well as a site principal investigator for multiple industry-led clinical trials (e.g., PREMIER, FEAT).
He is involved in professional societies in neurosurgery and stroke intervention at multiple levels.
