Dr. Sonu Abraham is an advanced heart failure and transplant cardiologist at UK Gill Heart & Vascular Institute with a special interest in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and infiltrative cardiomyopathies. She leads a specialized clinic focused on genetic and infiltrative cardiomyopathies, a unique service that is rarely available at other hospitals.

Dr. Abraham treats various cardiac conditions, including advanced and systolic heart failure, amyloidosis, cardiac sarcoidosis, and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.

She is deeply committed to ensuring that her patients feel truly heard and respected, viewing each interaction as an opportunity to enhance their physical health and overall well-being. Heart failure impacts countless lives, and she is inspired by the potential to help patients attain improved health and a better quality of life through early intervention and compassionate care.

Dr. Abraham received advanced training in general cardiology at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center in Burlington, Massachusetts, followed by an advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology fellowship at Northwestern University in Chicago. She is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in cardiovascular disease and internal medicine.

Her research interests include advanced heart failure, transplantation, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, cardiac amyloidosis, cardiac sarcoidosis and cardiogenic shock. She has published numerous articles and abstracts in peer-reviewed journals and presented her findings at national scientific conferences.

Personal Statement

Heart failure and cardiomyopathies are diseases that impact both the patient and their families. I am dedicated to supporting them throughout their journeys, guiding them every step of the way to ensure they receive the best cardiac care possible.

Outside of work, I love spending time with my family, trying out different cuisines and painting.
