Colorectal Cancer Awareness Event

Join us for a free health education event focused on colon cancer awareness and prevention, mental health, and sun safety. Learn simple steps for early detection and protecting your well-being.

Attendees can receive a free blood pressure screening and take home educational materials to help make informed health decisions.

Join us for a free community event designed to help children start the school year ready to succeed. Families can access sports physicals, eye exams, educational materials and mental health resources while enjoying a day of fun activities and community support.

Join us for a free community event focused on helping children start the school year healthy and confident. Participants can access mental health resources, general safety tips and oral health information while enjoying a day of fun activities and community support.

Past events

Colon Cancer Awareness Event

This March 2025 event offered resources on colon cancer awareness, prevention and early detection. Over 200 attendees learned about the impact of social determinants of health, including lifestyle and access to healthcare. Educational materials were available to empower attendees to take control of their health.

Cancer Awareness Event

This November 2024 event at First Baptist Bracktown Church in Lexington featured free A1C & blood pressure screenings; cancer awareness; and education on nutrition/diet, mental health and oral health. Participants enjoyed refreshments from Chef Ouita Michel; produce from Black Soil KY; tours through an inflatable lung and much more! The event reached about 100 attendees.

Mental Health Awareness events

The May 2025 event included nutrition education, interactive activities and resources for mental health support to help promote overall well-being.

This event, held May 19, 2024, at First African Baptist Church, featured mental health education and resources, education and interactive activities from UK HealthCare’s Integrative Medicine team, nutrition education, oral health education, and refreshments.

Colon Cancer Awareness Month event

This March 2024 event at  at Greater Liberty Baptist Church featured colon cancer education, blood pressure education, nutrition education, oral health education, mental health education and refreshments.

Holistic Health Awareness Campaign

In March 2023, UK HealthCare team members and several community partners, including local faith leaders, partnered to launch a Holistic Health Awareness Campaign.

The events, held during Colon Cancer Awareness Month, focused primarily on colorectal cancer awareness but included screening and prevention of other cancer types as well.

This campaign was a huge success. Our team reached more than 500 people by visiting four African American churches in Lexington throughout the month. Services offered included:

  • Educational tours through an inflatable colon – focusing on colon health and colorectal screening
  • A1C screening
  • Blood pressure screening
  • Kidney health screening
  • General resources about healthy living
