About
Dr. Willie F. McBride III is a clinical neuropsychologist at the Kentucky Neuroscience Institute. He evaluates patients who have cerebrovascular disease, memory disorders, epilepsy and other conditions.
He focuses his clinical, scholarly and service work on leveraging neuropsychological assessment services and resources within medically underserved communities, particularly older adults. These interests broadly include Alzheimer’s disease and dementia health literacy, promotion of cognitive healthcare resources and brain health, and community outreach.
Dr. McBride was previously an assistant professor and co-director of the Complete Neuropsychology Services training clinic and Adult Neuropsychology Emphasis Area at Spalding University.
He earned his doctorate in clinical psychology from the Virginia Consortium Program in Clinical Psychology and completed his doctoral internship in professional psychology at Vanderbilt University. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship in health service psychology at the Tennessee Valley Healthcare System and then went on to complete his neuropsychology fellowship at the University of Virginia Health System.
Dr. McBride is currently a Geriatric Academic Career Awardee through the Health Resources and Services Administration.
He is also the current president and a co-founder of the Society for Black Neuropsychology, a nonprofit devoted toward the advancement of neuropsychology as a science for medically underserved communities.
