Pierluigi Porcu, MD

About

Pierluigi Porcu, MD, joins the UK Markey Cancer Center, and the Department of Internal Medicine as the Ewa Marcianiak, MD, Professor of Medicine, chief of the Division of Hematology, Blood and Marrow Transplantation, and associate director for clinical translation. He is an internationally known, NCI-funded physician-scientist, clinical researcher and key opinion leader with expertise in lymphoma and immune cell dysregulation. He is also an award-winning mentor and educator.

Previously, Dr. Porcu was the co-director of the Blood Cancer Center of Excellence and leader of the Immune Cell Regulation and Targeting program at the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center/Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. There, he also served as the director of the Division of Hematologic Malignancies and Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation. 

Dr. Porcu earned his medical degree and completed his medical oncology fellowship at the University of Torino in Italy. He then completed his hematology/oncology fellowship and internal medicine internship and residency at Indiana University, followed by a clinical research curriculum program at The Ohio State University. 

Dr. Porcu has a career-long record of outstanding patient education and support service with national patient advocacy organizations, including the Cutaneous Lymphoma Foundation, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and the Lymphoma Research Foundation.
