About

Dr. AJ Gunn is an interventional radiologist at UK HealthCare. He focuses on treating cancer patients with minimally invasive therapies, including radioembolization, chemoembolization, and percutaneous ablation. He also has a special interest in embolization in trauma patients.

Dr. Gunn serves as the chair of the UK College of Medicine Department of Radiology.

He graduated from the Sanford School of Medicine at the University of South Dakota. Then, he completed a residency in diagnostic radiology at Massachusetts General Hospital, the teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School, followed by a fellowship in interventional radiology at Johns Hopkins University. 

Prior to joining UK, Dr. Gunn held faculty positions at Washington University in St. Louis and the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he was vice chair of Interventional Affairs and division director for Interventional Radiology. 

Known as a national leader in interventional radiology, Dr. Gunn volunteers in prominent leadership positions in the Society of Interventional Radiology, Society of Interventional Oncology, the American Board of Radiology and the American College of Radiology. He has conducted prospective clinical trials and is an active researcher with more than 100 publications. He is regularly invited to lecture at other universities and both national and international scientific meetings.
