Makayla Jurek OTD, OTR/L

Dr. Makayla Jurek is an occupational therapist at UK HealthCare who specializes in hand and upper extremity rehabilitation. 

Dr. Jurek earned her bachelor's degree in exercise science from Indiana University before going on to complete her Doctor of Occupational Therapy degree from Huntington University. She is nationally certified through the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy. 

During her Level II fieldwork and doctoral capstone experience at UK HealthCare, Dr. Jurek prepared for her career with hands-on experience treating a variety of post-operative, traumatic and chronic upper extremity conditions. She is committed to continuing her professional development and is working toward earning her Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) credential in the near future. 

In her free time, Dr. Jurek enjoys exploring Lexington, spending time with her dog and traveling.
 

Personal Statement

As an occupational therapist, I strive to deliver compassionate, patient-centered care that empowers individuals to regain independence. I am passionate about building trusting relationships with each person I serve, and I take pride in helping them return to what they love – whether that's work, hobbies, self-care or leisure activities. I feel honored to be part of UK’s multidisciplinary team; together, we offer comprehensive services to support our patients across their full recovery journey.
