Thoracic Surgery
Thoracic surgery involves caring for patients with diseases of the chest, excluding the heart. This includes lung cancer and tumors of the mediastinum (the area around the heart) as well as esophageal and pleural diseases.
Thoracic surgery is often performed using a minimally invasive technique employing a camera, known as video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery, or VATS.
