Dr. Akafuah is the absolute BEST! She is super knowledgeable, thorough, listens to us, and explains things very well. We trust her and her opinion with both our children.

She has a way of speaking kindly yet authoritatively to my teenagers so they listen (even though mom says the same thing)... Her respect for their privacy and discussion of adolescent topics makes me feel that I have a partner in caring for them - a safety net that makes me feel very reassured. LOVE Dr. AKAFUAH!

Rhoda is so caring and patient and kind. My kids love seeing her, and as a parent I feel supported. She treats the kids with respect and speaks to them like they are so mature, which encourages them to be involved in their care and speak up and talk to the doctor. I love that she never asks the parents questions first- she always speaks to the child and treats them like it is THIER visit and their time to speak. I love that she encourages them to interact during the visit and explains the care being provided while supporting bodily autonomy. She has realistic goals for parents and patients and makes us feel like she remembers us each visit and truly cares about us. With parents that are a NICU nurse and paramedic, she is always informative and kind when we ask questions or have concerns that may seem over-bearing or outrageous. She still listens and smiles. My kids and I also love how professional Dr. Akafuah looks and presents herself, it brings an added level of confidence and love for the job! It encourages my daughter to take pride in her appearance and self.

Dr. Akafuah is amazing. We saw another provider on a previous visit who was unable to diagnose the patient's pneumonia, or really recognize it as a possibility. Dr. Akafuah diagnosed her quickly and showed great care with us.
