About
Sara Beth Carter is a trauma nurse practitioner at UK HealthCare, the region’s only Level 1 trauma center.
With over 10 years of nursing experience in acute care, Carter has a strong clinical background in managing critically injured patients and specializes in trauma assessment, stabilization and ongoing inpatient care. She is skilled in managing complex cases involving blunt and penetrating injuries and performing procedures like chest tube insertions and removals.
Carter earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing from Chamberlain University and is board certified by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. She previously worked as a travel nurse, where she discovered her passion for trauma care.
Carter holds credentials in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support and completed the Trauma Nursing Core Course.
Beyond her clinical practice, she is actively involved in trauma education and is currently pursuing additional certification focused on the acute care population.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her children, who are active in sports. Their weekends often include trips to Tennessee, where her oldest daughter participates in travel ball.
