I was very disappointed with *Amy Meikel on this visit. I got prelim. blood test results while in office however she said she would call me within a week to get rest of them. I waited 10 days and called her on 2 different days and sent her a message on portal. She finally called me 15 days later. When you are waiting to get results of bloodwork to see if you have cancer it is a very scary thing. She had many ways to reach me.

*Amy is wonderful! She took care of me when I was first diagnosed and treated as an inpt. I'm very thankful she became a NP and continued in my care!

This practitioner was not knowledgeable about my situation and did not appear to want to listen. She gave me her advice, after a 3 minute discussion, and informed me it was probably not an area of concern, but we could do testing. However, current research shows that this is indeed very concerning (lab results). Her explanation was that she sees this all the time - however she works in a cancer clinic, so her seeing it was not a sufficient answer. I am a nurse and know how to advocate for my care, so I did demand explanation and clarification. She then informed me that she really didn't know very much about my particular genetic defect and would need to do some research. Giving advice that an issue isn't substantial on an issue that you aren't familiar with is a dangerous practice in the area of cancer detection because for many of us early detection is our best hope for survival. I am scheduled to see this practitioner again in one month and am willing to work with her because everybody has off days, but this interaction did not leave me feeling confident about my care.
