Kelsey Brown, MS, CCC-SLP

Kelsey Brown is a speech-language pathologist at UK HealthCare who specializes in augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), echolalia, and early language development. She uses her theatre and teaching artist background to inspire fun and motivating client-centered sessions.

Brown earned a bachelor’s degree in theatre and a bachelor’s degree in communication sciences and disorders from the University of Georgia. She completed her master's degree in communication disorders at Emerson College, where her interests included AAC, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), medically complex children and youth, and early intervention. ]

Brown also completed the Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (LEND) program at Georgetown University; her interdisciplinary team project on sexual education for individuals with disabilities was awarded a ribbon for excellence. Additionally, she also holds certifications in The Hanen Centre’s “It Takes Two to Talk” parent coaching program and Meaningful Speech’s courses in gestalt language processing (GLP), the Natural Language Acquisition (NLA) framework and AAC. 

Brown has been a featured speaker at the Kentucky Speech-Language-Hearing Association (KSHA) convention and serves on the organization’s Respect Inclusion Support Equity (R.I.S.E.) committee. 

In 2025, she was named as an American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) Early Career Professional for her leadership in and commitment to using neurodiversity-affirming practices.

Prior to becoming a speech language pathologist, Brown worked in theatre education and cultural accessibility, which inspired her to author a children's book. “Come On, Calm!" encourages readers to co-regulate through sensory and breathing tasks. 

Brown is a member of the Junior League of Lexington, serves on the board at Nathaniel Mission and volunteers regularly at International Book Project. Her favorite time of the year is when she volunteers at Camp Courageous Kids with young people and their families affected by Rett syndrome, hosted by Rett University, each fall.
