About
Dr. Jennifer Tinsley Kubala is the senior athletic trainer and wellness coordinator contracted to the Lexington Fire Department. She has served in both clinical and research roles throughout her career.
Dr. Tinsley Kubala and her team began to build a structure for implementing athletic trainers into the fire service after she completed a National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health trainee fellowship in occupational athletic training through the Central Appalachian Regional Education and Research Center.
She received her bachelor’s degree in athletic training from Eastern Kentucky University, her master’s degree in exercise science from Appalachian State University, and her doctorate in rehabilitation and health science from UK.
Dr. Tinsley Kubala's research areas include biopsychosocial factors of musculoskeletal injury risk in firefighters, psychologically informed rehabilitation, and assessment of health and wellness benefits resulting from direct access to clinicians in the fire service.
