About

Dr. Thamer Musbah is a board-certified oral medicine, orofacial pain and dental sleep medicine specialist at UK HealthCare. He serves as the director of the Dental Urgent Care Clinic as well as the division chief of Oral Diagnosis, Oral Medicine, and Oral Radiology at the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry. 

Dr. Musbah has expertise in oral mucosal disease, orofacial pain disorders, complex diagnostic dental care and dental sleep medicine. His clinical interests include the dental management of sleep-related breathing disorders, such as obstructive sleep apnea and snoring, through the use of custom oral appliance therapy. 

He has a strong focus on the diagnosis and management of oral mucosal diseases, including traumatic, infectious, allergic, inflammatory, autoimmune and systemic conditions, including aphthous ulcers, lichen planus, pemphigus, pemphigoid and oral cancer. He often incorporates diagnostic biopsy as part of his care. 

Dr. Musbah also specializes in orofacial pain disorders that are not related to teeth, such as temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction, masticatory muscle pain, trigeminal neuralgia, burning mouth syndrome and neuropathic pain conditions. Additionally, he has a dedicated interest in managing salivary gland dysfunction and dry mouth, including care for patients with Sjögren’s syndrome.
