About

Suzanne Attia, MD, is a general pediatric gastroenterologist physician-scientist. In her clinical time, she has a special interest in malnutrition and intestinal rehabilitation.

Her research is devoted to the prevention and treatment of maternal and pediatric malnutrition in limited-resource settings. Currently, her research is centered in the University of Kentucky and in Kenya, with additional collaborations in Pakistan and Indonesia.

Dr. Attia is also actively involved in clinical research for the prevention of maternal and child malnutrition globally, including in Kenya, Indonesia and Pakistan. She is also global health faculty for the University of Kentucky Global Health Track for Pediatric Residents. Dr. Attia mentors multiple medical students, medical residents and Master’s in Public Health students in global health research. She founded the Global Health Special Interest Group of the North American Society of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition.
