Personal Statement
I am a physiatrist – a physician in the specialty of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R). My practice philosophy is rooted in physical medicine, meaning I favor non-chemical treatments such as improving posture, understanding biomechanics, fascial release techniques and needling procedures. I am an expert at using ultrasound to diagnose problems of muscle, tendon, joint and nerve. While I do incorporate medications and injections, I find that physical treatments often yield more durable results.
I have personal experience in triathlon, half-marathon, martial arts, performing arts, rock climbing and springboard diving. I have experience treating elite athletes as well as professional performing artists. This background has equipped me with a unique understanding of the physical demands and rehabilitation needs of individuals in high-performance environments.
My ultimate goal is for you to become an active participant in your physical function and health. I do this by helping you understand causes of pain and dysfunction and guiding you through treatment options as we navigate your recovery.
