About

Dr. Esra Pehlivan is a neurologist at Kentucky Neuroscience Institute who specializes in pediatric epilepsy.

She received her medical degree from Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi in Turkey. Following medical school, she went on to complete two residency programs – one in general pediatrics from the Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine in Turkey and another in pediatric neurology at Washington University in St. Louis. At the latter institution, she also completed a fellowship with a focus on pediatric epilepsy.

Dr. Pehlivan realized early on that she wanted to care for children who battled seizures because the cases are complex but extremely treatable when diagnosed correctly. Not only does she help children have fewer seizures, but she also aims to improve their development and quality of life over time.

At UK HealthCare, Dr. Pehlivan is able to take a comprehensive and collaborative approach to epilepsy care. She works alongside neurologists, neurosurgeons, geneticists and dietitians to accurately diagnose and thoroughly treat children across the Commonwealth.
