About
Dr. Andrew Welleford is a neurologist at the Kentucky Neuroscience Institute.
Born and raised in Lexington, Dr. Welleford completed dual undergraduate degrees in chemistry and biology at the University of Kentucky, followed by his medical degree and a doctorate in neuroscience. He also completed a residency in adult neurology and a fellowship in movement disorders here.
Dr. Welleford’s research focuses on therapeutics for neurodegenerative diseases, such as Parkinson's disease.
He is a passionate educator and serves as the associate program director of the adult neurology residency program. He provides bedside clinical teaching as well as neuroscience and neuroanatomy lectures for medical students and residents.
