Melissa R. Walters, APRN

Melissa Walters is a board-certified nurse practitioner at UK HealthCare.

She values the relationships she builds with her patients and is committed to providing compassionate, patient-centered care. She strives to ensure that each patient feels heard, respected and supported throughout their healthcare journey.

Walters started working at UK HealthCare in 2005 as a registered nurse. She continued her professional development by earning her master’s degree in nursing from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2015. Since completing her graduate education, Walters has served as an advanced practice provider in various clinics within the UK Department of Internal Medicine, including Team Blue Primary Care Clinic, CareBlue and Fountain Court Acute Care.

Outside of work, Walters enjoys walking, spending time with her family – including her children and grandchildren, and being involved in ministry, where she has a special passion for working with children.

Personal Statement

Practicing in Urgent Care Medicine allows me the opportunity to care for acute illnesses and injuries in a fast-paced and problem-focused setting. My personal goal in the Urgent Care setting is to assist my patient with their immediate concerns and help address and prevent any potentially significant bad outcome(s).

Returning to the University of Kentucky allows me the opportunity to give back to the communities dear to my heart. I enjoy the relationships I develop with my patients and I strive to the provide the highest-quality care to each patient I meet.
