About

Dr. Beth McNulty grew up in Western Kentucky and moved to Louisville for her undergraduate education. She then went on to receive her medical degree at the University of Louisville and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. Upon graduating from medical school, she completed her residency in Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Louisville. It was during this time that she discovered her true passion in ENT, Otology & Neurotology. She went on to complete a two-year fellowship in Otology, Neurotology and Cranial Base Surgery at the Michigan Ear Institute in Farmington Hills, Michigan.

She is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery, Triological Society, and American Neurotology Society, among others. She is also board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery.

McNulty is excited to be back in her home state with her husband, Nathan, and their children, Reagan and Anthony.

Personal Statement

I specialize in pediatric and adult hearing loss, tinnitus, dizziness and imbalance, chronic ear infections and skull-based tumors. I see children and adults.

The reason I chose this specialty dates to medical school. I remember the first time I experienced the restoration of hearing, and the magic. It was a lady who had been basically deaf on one side for about 20 years because of scarring of the ear canal, and she was trying on a bone-anchored hearing aid.

When that device restored her hearing, tears immediately came to her eyes. It was really moving for everybody in the room, and I knew then that’s what I wanted to do.

I think one of my strengths as a physician is that I’m able to listen to and relate to my patients. Being a Kentucky native gives me a certain advantage with our patient population, for sure.

I try to step back when I’m counseling patients and think, ‘How would I treat my mother? How would I treat my child?’ I try to bring that to every patient encounter.

Hearing test done first - wax present but not removed. Made test irrelevant. Dr. advised need to be done again, but in 3 weeks due to their schedule. Dr. should have home test then and given us results. Now she said we could come back in 3 weeks. NO THANK YOU.

Excellent, evidence based, compassionate care as always. Why are you referring to Dr. McNulty by her first name in this survey? She earned her title.

If I had consulted Dr. McNulty and/or Dr. Jones a year ago, I would not have lost the hearing and vestibular functions in my left ear, or been put at risk of brain abscess or meningitis.

Dr McNulty is absolutely the best! She is positive, she is upbeat, she is caring, and most importantly she is extremely the best at what she does which is take care of the ears. I'm a very complex case with multiple surgeries to one of my ears and I wouldn't trust anyone but her in managing my care. I highly recommend her to everyone!

Kind. Compassionate. Understanding. Knowledgeable. We have to keep her on board. She is amazing. I have been to Family Practice and UTC with essentially a 'it's okay, just point ointment on it' response for MONTHS. Dr McNulty took a look and KNEW the answer and issues. She didn't write me and my pain off. She is the only one who has and she was so caring in the process of Dx and treatment discussions.

She had her mind made up before she came in the room that it couldn't possibly be ENT or ear related. Asked why I kept the appt. She did look in my ears and check my jaw, but really provided no treatment suggestions or things try. Said if it happens again to contact them again. Felt very rushed through.
