Dr. Buenafe was wonderful. She looked at the issues I came in with through a holistic lens, considering the most pressing concerns, and laying out a plan for dealing with the less urgent issues later. She wrote down what we will be doing, which helped me a lot to keep everything straight in my head. She spent a long time talking to me about the issues to understand them before jumping to any conclusions. She also talked about the costs of treatment, which reduced my anxiety and prepared me for the parts that might cost a bit of money. This was one of the most comprehensive visits to the doctor I have had in a long time. I am so grateful.

This was probably the most thorough visit I have ever had with a doctor. Dr. Buenafe listened to my concerns and took them serious. She was extremely thorough and is even consulting with a colleague to make sure we are taking the correct path. She is a really great doctor!

Dr. Buenafe was very attentive, and thorough during my visit. She answered all of my questions and went above and beyond in providing details about treatment options and other explanations

Dr. Buenafe is by far the best doctor I have ever seen. She was very kind and explained each one of my options and made sure that I understood what she was saying.

Left appointment extremely confused with few of my questions answered. Felt dismissed and was almost pushed out of the room. Any questions that were answered were done so dismissively and without explanation.

This is the second time I saw Dr. Buenafe in a week and I'd never met with her before. To be honest I did not like her communication style. She was very intense and long-winded in her communication method. I do not feel like she spent any time reviewing my chart before my second appointment because I had to repeat multiple things about my patient history and symptoms that she had written down the first time. Also, I am on continuous cycle birth control and have been for about 6 years. I explained about how I still take the placebo pills every one to two cycles though to have a period. The First appointment, she freaked out and asked if I was worried about oregano cy and when I said no, she acted as though I am misusing my pills, despite following the instructions to a T, never missing a dose, and discussing the usage of my pills with my pharmacist and gynocologist. At my second appointment (after already telling the nurse the date of my last period AND having to explain to her that I am on continuous cycle pills), Dr. Buenafe asked dramatically, "So you're LATE??" And I have to, yet again, explain to her that no, I am on continuous cycle pills and am in fact not late because I skipped the placebo pills and began a new pack. I am getting really fed up with the treatment I experience at UK UHS regarding my contraceptives and sexual history. I am a 25 year old female PhD candidate in pharmaceutical research who has been on oral contraceptives for 9 years and sexually active for 8. I have never once had a pregnancy scare or STI, missed doses of my pills, or had sexual Interactions without a second form of contraception (aka I always use condoms even with long term partners). I am sick of being judged by female providers at UK. When I ha r spoken with male doctors, they are rational, understanding, and listen to my safe sex practices, offering me respect and encouraging me to keep up with everything I already do (aka two forms of contraception, getting tested between partners, etc.). Dr. Buenafe and the female gynecologists at UK are judgemental and quick to jump to conclusions. I can only imagine how damaging this is for younger women at UK who are intimidated into not wanting to share their sexual practices for fear of being judged and talked down to.

The first thing the provider asked me was "are you vaccinated for COVID." Then, when I did not give her the answer she wanted to hear, she did not like that. She considered strep as a diagnosis, but when that was negative, her only other option was COVID. She was pressuring me to get the vaccine and was rude in general. Not a goos experience. She did not prescribe any antibiotics and just told me to take Tylenol. This visit was a waste of my time. P.S. My COVD test was negative :)
