About
Dr. David Neil Toupin is a pediatrician and child neurologist with a passion for treating children with neurogenetic and neurodevelopmental disabilities. A graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Medicine, Dr. Toupin went on to complete a combined residency program in pediatrics and child neurology at UK. He works in the child neurology clinic with multidisciplinary care teams to provide the best care for his patients. With a strong clinical interest in neurogenetics, he uses modern genetic testing to find molecular diagnoses and individually tailor treatments. He provides treatment, including gene therapies, for children with diseases such as Duchenne muscular dystrophy and spinal muscular atrophy, a condition that is also a focus of his clinical research. Dr. Toupin also serves as director of the Neurodevelopmental Evaluation and Management Optimization (NEMO) Clinic, where he works with a team of therapists, psychologists and others to perform comprehensive evaluations on children with rare conditions.
The winner of multiple patient-centered care awards during his training, Dr. Toupin takes pride in providing compassionate, family-centered care. He enjoys listening to – and learning from – his patients and their families. His personal interests include spending time and traveling with his family, basketball and chess.
