About
Celysse M. van Zyl received her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in Lewisburg, WV. Dr. van Zyl completed her intern year of residency down at St. Petersburg General Hospital in Florida; before returning to West Virginia to finish her residency training in Osteopathic Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine.
Dr. van Zyl has been trained to address concerns of patients from all walks of life; including newborns experiencing feeding/latching difficulties, back pain concerns in pregnancy, and elderly patients suffering from chronic arthritis.
Personal Statement
While in her clinical training, Dr. van Zyl witnessed firsthand the impact and devastation of the opioid crises in the communities she served. As a result of this exposure, she decided to seek training that would allow her to provide a non-opiate based practice for her patients.
Dr. van Zyl’s clinic focuses on conservative measures to address a wide range of musculoskeletal patient concerns, utilizing Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT) as her main modality. OMT is a hands-on, manual technique employed by Osteopathic Physicians that is used to ease pain and increase overall mobility, while promoting the body’s natural healing processes.
