About

Celysse M. van Zyl received her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in Lewisburg, WV. Dr. van Zyl completed her intern year of residency down at St. Petersburg General Hospital in Florida; before returning to West Virginia to finish her residency training in Osteopathic Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine.

Dr. van Zyl has been trained to address concerns of patients from all walks of life; including newborns experiencing feeding/latching difficulties, back pain concerns in pregnancy, and elderly patients suffering from chronic arthritis.

Personal Statment

While in her clinical training, Dr. van Zyl witnessed firsthand the impact and devastation of the opioid crises in the communities she served. As a result of this exposure, she decided to seek training that would allow her to provide a non-opiate based practice for her patients.

Dr. van Zyl’s clinic focuses on conservative measures to address a wide range of musculoskeletal patient concerns, utilizing Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT) as her main modality. OMT is a hands-on, manual technique employed by Osteopathic Physicians that is used to ease pain and increase overall mobility, while promoting the body’s natural healing processes.

Appointment was a waste of time, no help regarding my pain or treatment, could have handled with a phone call

My only issue was the doctor is with you for like 7 minutes, I'm probably... in like 12 minutes, total... visit. The whole appointment totally rushed and you don't feel like you even matter.

Dr Van Zyl is a favorite of mine!!! She always welcomes me and makes me feel like I am the most important person in the room. She is attentive to my questions and concerns and she works miracles on my pain. I would love to see the OMT program grow as I feel it is a wonderful alternative to painkillers!

Great doctor. She always checks what has been going on with my medical visits before treatment. She is very knowledgeable and compassionate. As far as my medical treatment, I always feel better after I leave. Even 3 days later, I notice more improvement.

Dr Garrison was so thorough and patient with her questions and explanations - I felt like I was her only patient! Then when Dr Van Zyl came in, she too was so attentive and thoroughly explained the issues and gave me a plan right away to get started - gave me hope to resolve the issue without surgery!

Dr. Van Zyl is a fabulous doctor. When she comes in, she has already reviewed my chart. She knows how to guide a conversation so that what she needs to know is told, and all my questions are answered. I came in with pain in my neck and I left with no pain at all. We discussed the exercises that I should do at home, and also discussed the length of time before my next appointment before it was made.

Due to physician unexpected absence this was a reschedule from late December - and I also had been busy using my body more. Her familiarity with my physical dysfunction made readjustment and discomfort/ pain relief quick. I appreciate her skill as ease of physical movement is key to my quality of life

Dr. Van Zyl is very detail oriented, cares about the patient, asks pertinent questions. Completes perfect assessment. Listens to the patient, thinks about a Tx or combination of Tx's to treat the patient condition and does the manipulation or Tx('s). I left the place feeling so good compared to how I have felt in months.
