Personal Statement

I am proud to be from Kentucky and as a physician at UK HealthCare, I am proud that we take care of patients from all across the state. This “family” connection is very important to me, as I believe it is to the patient experience, as well. My goal is to make sure that patients have care that is thoughtful, timely, and professional.

Expert care will always be provided regardless of whether a problem is straightforward or complex. At times, this requires a collaborative effort with other medical specialties so that the best care is delivered.

Overall, I understand that being a patient is not easy for anyone, including families. My expectation is that I address all concerns, communication is easy, and we are considerate of the patient’s time. I want to make the patient experience as easy as possible at a time when it may not be so easy.

I don't like that he said he would call and hasn't. I've called 3 times to remind him with no call back to even say they're still discussing or don't have all that they need (I have the mri results printed so I know they're in already)

Had a very pleasant experience at the general surgery clinic. Checked in quickly, was seen promptly with little wait, clinic staff were friendly and welcoming. Was very comfortable. Dr Patel was very professional and had great bedside manner- listened, direct eye contact, spoke slowly and answered my questions, provided very good information for me. Dr Hourigan was friendly and had an excellent bedside manner. I appreciate that he came back in to exam room and was in NO hurry - was not rushed, was very informative, answered my questions and was very pleasant. I appreciated his follow up phone call as well. Overall super pleased with my experience!

He was kind, compassionate , and made sure I understood the plan and what needed to be done. I would highly recommend him
