About
Dr. Caitlin Briggs is a psychiatrist and director of the Child ADHD Clinic at UK HealthCare. This clinic offers neuropsychiatric screening as well as a full clinical psychiatric evaluation and collaboration with schools. By providing compassionate, evidence-based care, Dr. Briggs hopes that every child, teen and adult can grow and succeed on their own timeline and into a person with whom they are happy and proud.
In addition to ADHD, Dr. Briggs also treats depression, anxiety disorders, mood disorders, OCD and other psychiatric concerns.
She received her medical degree from the UK College of Medicine and completed a residency in psychiatry and a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at the Bowman Gray School of Medicine at Wake Forest University.
Personal Statement
ADHD is often misunderstood and stigmatized by both clinicians and the public. This is further complicated by misinformation on social media platforms. It wasn’t until my psychiatry residency that I recognized the patterns of ADHD and was diagnosed with it myself. This gave me insight into my personal life and informs my professional practice as a psychiatrist.
Diagnosing and treating ADHD is as much an art as it is a science, and there is no one perfect treatment. What works for one person doesn’t always work for another. I enjoy figuring out the puzzle and seeing a child gain their confidence back.
I also love being a positive model to children; despite having this “scary” condition, they, too, can harness their ADHD superpower to be successful, instead of letting it hold them back.
