Good Samaritan Emergency Department

The Good Samaritan Emergency Department offers a variety of emergency services in a community-hospital atmosphere.

  • We offer a fast-track service for urgent but non-life-threatening medical problems.
  • We see patients of all ages, and our experienced physicians are board certified in emergency medicine.

Arriving in our emergency department

When you get here, you will need to sign in with some basic information for the triage nurse to see you.

The triage nurse will discuss your condition and get your vital signs. It is important that you share all medical information with our triage nurse, including the symptoms you are having. Also, please ask the nurse before eating or drinking anything, as this may interfere with your treatment.

A provider (a physician, nurse practitioner or physician assistant) will see you once we move you to a treatment space within the emergency department.

After you talk with the provider, a patient relations assistant will help get you registered. This may happen at the front desk or bedside. At this time, we will ask for details such as your name, address and phone number. This information is important to include in your medical record.

We appreciate your patience

Please understand that some people who arrive after you may be seen before you. Emergency visits are not like doctor’s office visits. There are no scheduled appointments. Instead, we see patients in different areas based on the type of illness or injury they have.

To our patients

At UK Good Samaritan Hospital, we have a long tradition of caring for our patients with expertise and compassion. While any visit to the emergency department can be stressful, we will make  every effort to put you – and your family – at ease.

Our team has years of experience taking care of a lot of people at once. However, when many patients arrive within a short time, we may not be able to provide care to everyone as quickly as we would like. Your time is important to us, and we apologize for any delays during your visit.

Please tell us if you are having pain, as your comfort is one of our main concerns.

The emergency department can be a busy place. If you have questions or are confused about what is happening, please do not hesitate to ask your nurse or provider for more information. We want you to be comfortable and to understand our plans to evaluate and treat your problem.

We hope you are satisfied with your care. We are always working to improve our processes, and we value the feedback patients like you can give us.

To help us improve, you may get a survey in the mail in the next few weeks. This survey will ask about your impression of our service. If you get such a survey, please take a few moments to complete and return it. This helps us continue to make changes to benefit our patients.

If, after you leave, you would like to speak with someone about your visit, please contact a customer service representative at 859-226-7040.

Visitor information

We need to protect your privacy and safety and that of our other patients. To do so, we must limit the number of family members and visitors for each patient.

Once we take you to a room, two family members/visitors may join you in your room at one time. Children should remain in the waiting area with a responsible adult.
