About
Dr. Mariyam Hashmi is a pediatric gastroenterologist at Kentucky Children’s Hospital. She is passionate about treating functional gastrointestinal disorders (FGID), also known as disorders of the gut-brain interaction (DGBI) and motility disorders.
Dr. Hashmi earned her medical degree at Dow International Medical College at the Dow University of Health Sciences in Karachi, Pakistan in 2015. Upon graduating, she returned to the United States, where she completed a residency in pediatrics at Charleston Area Medical Center/West Virginia University in 2020. She then completed a fellowship in pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition at Connecticut Children’s/University of Connecticut in Hartford in 2023. During her time there, she completed additional training in neurogastroenterology and motility disorders, with specialized training in esophageal and anorectal disorders.
Dr. Hashmi joined UK HealthCare’s Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology in 2023 as the program lead in developing the Pediatric Neurogastroenterology and Motility Disorders Program.
Personal Statement
I have a special interest in pediatric disorders of the gut-brain interaction (DGBI) and motility disorders of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. I enjoy taking care of patients with complex medical needs and find it fulfilling to see my patients get better. I enjoy collaborating with families and other medical specialties to provide the best care possible.
In addition to caring for patients I enjoy traveling and spending time outdoors with my husband and two kids. I speak English, Hindi, Punjabi, and Urdu.
