Why choose the UK Sarcoidosis Clinic?

Sarcoidosis can be complex to treat. It is an inflammatory disease that causes the formation of tiny clusters of cells, called granulomas, in one or more organs of the body.

It mainly affects the lungs, but it can also affect other organs, including your eyes, skin, heart and nervous system. People may experience shortness of breath, cough, night sweats, fatigue and other symptoms.

Advanced diagnostics and treatment

Before your appointment, we’ll ask your referring physician for any previous tests or imaging. This will save time when you visit us.

  • We diagnose and manage sarcoidosis with the latest tools:
  • Bronchoscopy to see the lungs and make a diagnosis
  • Pulmonary function testing (PFT) to measure how well your lungs work
  • Radiology and nuclear imaging to get images of your lungs, heart and other areas

Most people who have sarcoidosis need ongoing monitoring to check for symptoms and complications. While there isn’t a cure for sarcoidosis, your treatment options may include:

  • Medications to relieve symptoms
  • Pulmonary rehab to help with lung symptoms
  • Physical therapy to address fatigue and muscle strength
  • A pacemaker or defibrillator to help with heart symptoms

The latest sarcoidosis research

There’s still a lot we need to learn about sarcoidosis. Our doctors conduct research to understand more about the disease and search for new treatments.

Our clinic is a founding member of the Foundation for Sarcoidosis Research (FSR) Global Clinic Alliance. FSR members are at the forefront of sarcoidosis education, awareness and research. The UK HealthCare Sarcoidosis Clinic works with other centers nationwide to provide care backed by the latest scientific evidence.
