Personal Statement

My passion is caring for patients. I've worked in research and teaching, but there's nothing like helping a child and their parent or caregiver safely through anesthetic care. That really drives me and brings me to work.

A big part of the American Society of Anesthesiology is the Perioperative Surgical Home. It's a patient-centered, physician-driven multidisciplinary team. We provide wrap-around care, which helps patients receive better healthcare at a reduced cost.

When I started here, some patients who had major hip and back surgeries stayed for upwards of seven days. Now, with this perioperative surgical home model, patients often leave one to two days after surgery due to a more effective combination of medicines and better surgical techniques. These patients aren't being rushed out of the hospital, but are satisfied and pain-free because we can provide better care.
