Personal Statement

Whether I was watching with my family, or playing, I have always loved sports from an early age. My high school anatomy and physiology class sparked my interest in the human body and how it works. From there I knew I wanted to work with people and in an exciting environment, so naturally, Athletic Training felt like the best combination of all of those things. I am passionate about working in the high school setting because I believe there is work to be done to give high school athletes access to the very best sports medicine healthcare possible. High school athletics bridge the vast gap from youth athletics to life after athletics, or collegiate/pro athletics. Through advocacy, determination and dedication, a high school Athletic Trainer can have a profound difference in the life of a high school athlete. Whether it is by helping them through an injury, teaching them how to take care of themselves both physically and mentally, or just being there for them at a pivotal time in their lives. I believe what we Athletic Trainers do with their athletes at the high school level, can and will affect their performance / participation in, and perceptions of, activity and sports for years to come.
