    The UK HealthCare Barnstable Brown Diabetes Center is a multi-disciplinary center designed to provide medical management in every area of your diabetes as well as educational support to assist you in implementing life-style changes. Our education program is recognized and accredited by the American Association of Diabetes Educators.  

    At the center you will learn about 

    • Weight management through healthy eating; counting carbohydrates, labels reading, healthy recipes, tips for eating out
    • Monitoring your blood glucose and understanding fluctuations
    • Administering and adjusting your medications
    • Initiating exercise in your lifestyle
    • Reducing your risk for diabetes and complications

  • Mission

    The Barnstable Brown Kentucky Diabetes & Obesity Center offers comprehensive evaluations and treatment plans to support the primary care provider in managing the care of patients with diabetes. The services offered include:

    • Consultation with expert diabetologists.
    • Coordination of care for diabetes complications screening and management.
    • Comprehensive patient education plans.

    Our goal is to work with the referring provider to provide support and assistance as needed. For patients requiring intensive management such as patients using insulin pumps, patients with type 1 diabetes, and patients with challenging diabetes issues we will provide in-depth care on an ongoing basis.

    My name is Beth Holden, I completed my undergraduate education at the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing. I continued my education in graduate studies at Bellarmine College in Louisville, earning a Master’s of Science degree in Nursing. I have been a registered nurse for 40 years and a certified diabetes for educator for 20 years.

    Sheri Setser- Legg, MS, RD, LD, CDE
    My name is Sheri Setser-Legg; I have been a registered dietitian for over twenty years and a certified diabetes educator for over 15 years. I completed my undergraduate degree at Morehead State University with a BS in Nutrition and Dietetics. I then attended the University of Kentucky for my graduate work, earning an MS in Exercise Physiology. I have worked in adult endocrinology at UK for sixteen years.

I then completed a Master of Education degree at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green.
